Zahn and Villavicencio wrote the op-ed in response to a different Washington Post op-ed written by the president of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, Marjorie Dannenfelser, and Kellyanne Conway, former counselor to President Donald Trump, calling on Republican presidential candidates to “go on offense on abortion.”
“One of the most harmful things Republicans said about abortion over the past year was … nothing. Many panicked and chose to bury their heads in the sand, allowing their opponents to attack them,” their piece reads, “while missing an opportunity to share a positive pro-life vision for the future. … America needs a national defender of life who will boldly advance this crucial human rights cause.”
Dannenfelser issued an announcement in response to ACOG’s op-ed.
“In an Informed debate, the truth is what matters and now we finally hear the truth from the abortion lobby. So now we take this question of abortion limits to voters and those running for public office,” she stated. “Americans are compassionate people and overwhelmingly reject all-trimester abortions on demand. The more they learn of the extremist positions of organizations in power, the more they reject them.”
Dr. Ingrid Skop, a board-certified OB-GYN who has practiced in Texas for practically 30 years and serves as vp and director of medical affairs at Charlotte Lozier Institute additionally responded, saying in an announcement:
As an obstetrician for the final 30 years, I’ve advocated and cared for each of my sufferers—moms and their unborn youngsters. This brazen proclamation from ACOG, whereas unhappy to see, is reflective of a discouraging new actuality: In ACOG’s management and the broader medical group, there’s no place for dissent on the difficulty of limitless abortion for any cause, at any time in being pregnant.
We are witnessing, in actual time, a vocal, political takeover of a scientific group that represents essentially the most honorable and delightful occupation, answerable for safely bringing new life into the world. I want ACOG would notice that their promotion of elective abortion with out limits isn’t reflective of the views of their very own members, contemplating 86-93 % of training obstetricians won’t carry out an elective abortion.

Skop added in a comment to CBN that “it’s good that this discussion is happening so that the American public can come to the realization that yes, late abortions are happening, yes, they’re dangerous, they are killing babies electively, healthy babies, in healthy mothers.”
CBN additional quoted Skop:
“The other discussion that we’re not having that we need to have is that some of these babies are born alive, and do not leave the abortion clinic alive, because nobody is supervising abortion clinics to make sure that they’re not actually committing infanticide,” Skop continued. “So our country’s very extreme. I think most people don’t realize that. And yet if you ask them, consistently they say, ‘No, we should have restrictions far earlier in pregnancy.’”
Several states — run by Democrats — notably don’t have any restrictions on abortion in anyway, together with Colorado, Oregon, and Washington, DC. Many different Democrat-run states, like California, New York, and Illinois, enable abortions as much as “viability” however enable abortions later in being pregnant with restricted exceptions, together with if a lady’s “mental health” is at risk.
On the federal degree, Democrats have additionally supported a radical piece of proposed abortion laws known as the “Women’s Health Protection Act.” The laws would usurp states’ skill to move robust pro-life legal guidelines and would enable abortion via all 9 months of being pregnant.
As Breitbart News reported in 2019, Virginia Democrat Delegate Kathy Tran proposed a measure that 12 months that may not solely enable abortion all through all 9 months of being pregnant within the state however would even allow a lady to determine whether or not she needs to “abort” her child as she is dilating and about to offer delivery.
At that point, then-Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (D) stated the invoice launched within the House of Delegates that may enable “abortion” even throughout childbirth would allow an “infant” to be “delivered” and “resuscitated, if that’s what the mother and the family desired,” till the physicians and mom talk about what to do.
VA Gov Northam isn’t any reasonable, that is one of essentially the most vile, radical pro-abortion positions ever put ahead. This is evil. He ought to recant or resign. https://t.co/Npxa4c5JdI

Democrat lawmakers in California got here below fireplace for language that appeared to guard girls from legal penalties for “perinatal death” — or dying within the first month after delivery. Critics stated the language “perinatal death due to a pregnancy-related cause” may successfully legalize infanticide, and the statute was changed to “perinatal death due to causes that occurred in utero” earlier than its passage and Governor Gavin Newsom’s signature.
